AERNNOVA CONTINUES BETTING ON INOVATION AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT WITH THE PARTICIPATION IN THREE NEW PROJECTS, GRAPHENE FLAGSHIP, COMBONDT AND MACIZADO
AERNNOVA STUDIES GRAPHENE ENRICHED COMPOSITE MATERIALS POSIBILITIES WITHIN GRAPHENE FLAGSHIP PROGRAM
During first half of 2018 also core 1 of Graphene project has concluded. This project was part of GRAPHENE FLAGSHIP European program (H2020-FETFLAG-2014 – Proposal ID 649953). The project has been a partnership of Aernnova with Airbus and Antolín Group, coordinated by Chalmers University (Sweden).
The main scope of the project has been to include graphene particles into standard aerostructure parts through RTM process resin. A test campaign was performed, with the goal of analyzing the mechanical properties of the new part by comparing the results of the “enriched” resin manufactured part to the standard.
These results showed some interesting behavior of the graphene-added resin part. Therefore, the responsible agency keep supporting Aernnova for the Core 2 of the project, which will study different geometries and will be more ambitious in the tests to perform in order to analyze the applications of this new material.
AERNNOVA ADVANCES IN NON-DESTRUCTIVE INSPECTION TECHNIQUES FOR ADHESIVE BONDING THANKS TO COMBONDT PROJECT
Aernnova has successfully finished ComBoNDT project during 2018. This R&D project is included within the H2020 European plan (H2020-MG.1.1-2014.-RIA-2014) which included Aernnova as industrial partner, along with 12 other companies from all around Europe.
The scope of the project has been the study and development of innovative inspection techniques for composites. Production scenario has been one of the proposed scenarios, where Aernnova positioned as end user and therefore established the requirements of each of the inspections. For the repair scenario, GMI Aero has been the reference partner.
Aernnova wanted to develop several technologies which could inspect adhesive bonding, so these inspections could validate the quality of the bonding and ease the integration of composite material parts, avoiding drilling and riveting, and therefore gaining competitiveness thanks to lower weight and costs.
This project demonstrates the implication of Aernnova in experimental development projects, promoting the cooperation between companies and research organisms of, stimulating the development of new technological capabilities.
COASA COLLABORATES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SPECIFIC TOOL FOR THE PROCESS OF MACIZADO
The purpose of the MACIZADO project is to generate a specific tool for the productive process in materials composed of solid parts with high added value for the aeronautical industry.
The project is supported by the consortium MACIZADO, which is formed by 3 companies from Galicia (Spain), UTINGAL SL which is the leading company of the project, BASE 2 ENGINEERING AND DEVELOPMENTS and the company of the group Aernnova COMPONENTS AERONAUTICOS COASA with headquarters in Orense.
This project aims to characterize, design, develop and apply tools and tools for the improvement of all the technological processes linked to the macizado.
The project also has the support of the AIMEN Technology Center and the Multisectorial Research Technology Center (CETIM).
This project is subsidized by the Innovation Agency of Galicia, and has FEDER co-financing under the Operational Program FEDER GALICIA 2014-2020
