WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU

The Category Manager (CM) will lead, and own projects associated with securing long-term supply and best market pricing for their defined category. This will include being an active team member of NPI programmes and special projects whilst developing and sustaining long-term relationships of suppliers within their category. The CM is responsible for monitoring spend and performance for suppliers within their category against budget.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support the review of current supplier contracts or agreements, ensuring new contractual agreements are planned well in advance of current end dates and are presented, reviewed with department management, peers and the procurement team.
  • Risk management of commodities and suppliers within their category and ensure risks are captured, maintained and have sufficient response actions in work to contain and protect the business.
  • Active team member within NPI project teams, executing the set-up and introduction of suppliers with adherence to the baseline budget.
  • Support with tactical execution where necessary for any supply issues within their category, working closely with the buying team.
  • Work closely with other HAL stakeholders to align category performance and contractual agreements with the organisation’s needs and ensure the wider business is aligned and operating to associated T&Cs and agreed pricing.
  • Stakeholder in Make/Buy strategy through execution of any identified transfer of work as determined by the department’s roadmap.
  • Work with Aernnova global buyers associated with category commodities and / or common suppliers to support global initiatives and collaborative working as defined.
  • Support the Operational procurement team to ensure correct implementation of supplier strategies and procurement approach for all suppliers within their category.
  • Follow procurement activities as applicable, managing the tendering and supporting the contract negotiation to achieve the best purchasing conditions in accordance with company requirements and procedures for within their category.
  • Execute category and commodity strategy as defined by the Head of Strategic Procurement with monitoring and reporting performance to budget for the category.
  • Responsible for supplier development within their category.
  • Some occasional travel for business and so you must be able to travel accordingly.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven track record in operating with MRP / ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with large data sets, using tools such as MS Excel.
  • Demonstratable experience with import / export requirements, incoterms and government contracting terms and conditions.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Proven capability in negotiating procurement deals with many non-price variables.
  • High levels of subject matter expertise in buying and category management.
  • Excellent project team working and communication skills.
  • Degree qualification, CIPS or equivalent experience in a Procurement role.
