Lilium partners with Aernnova to develop the design and manufacture of the Lilium Jet wing and canard.

Munich,22 June 2023: Lilium N.V. (NASDAQ: LILM) ("Lilium"), thedeveloper of the all-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, has selected Aernnova, , to design and manufacture the wing and canard of theLilium Jet.

This assignment joins the one already announced a few months ago where Aernnova was selected to design and manufacture the propulsion mounting system for the Lilium Jet. This was the engine support system or “flap”, a structure at the rear of the wings and canard, one of the key components of the Lilium Jet that provides lift by interacting with the engine's airflow. It also houses the vectoring propulsion systems, responsible for vertical and horizontal flight.

Aernnovaand Lilium now agree to further collaborate on the design, manufacture and supply of the Lilium Jet's wing and canard, two of the most critical components of the vehicle from a structural and aircraft performance. The wing, whose fundamental function is to provide lift to the aircraft, and the canard, a lesser-known structure at the front of the vehicle, which fulfils a dual function of lift and control surface, replacing the more traditional aircraft functions of the stabilisers. Both structures support the propulsion system of the Lilimum Jet. In this project, Aernnova will contribute its extensive experience in the design of similar structures in composite material and ntegrating the most advanced composite manufacturing technologies. By using light weight materials such as epoxy resin reinforced with carbon fibre in these structures.

Yves Yemsi,Chief Operating Officer of Lilium, said: “Aernnova is an industry leader forcustomized design and manufacture of metallic and composite assemblies, which makes them an ideal partner. It is important to us that we collaborate with the best aerospace suppliers and leverage their expertise.”

Ricardo Chocarro, CEO of Aernnova, said: “With this additional participation, wecompleted the design and manufacture of the main structural parts of this all-electric aircraft. Recognising our expertise in the development and manufacturing of aircraft structures. We are proud of our participation in this project, which has the opportunity to change the aviation industry in a positive and sustainable way.”
